Theatre Review: 'On The Beauty of Loss' by Vineyard Theatre

There are two ways to engage with this digital performance: Zoom and Streaming.

New York, NY - I got to watch the virtual "On The Beauty of Loss" to experience this multimedia performance by Jared Mezzocchi. It is an very introspective, live, multimedia performance in which Mezzocchi explores how the emergence of social technology has shifted the ways humans collect memories and comprehend grief.

His virtual journey explores the loss of two family members, a father passing before the invention of the iPhone, and a grandfather reaching the end of his life 16 years later, in the peak of the pandemic. Many can relate to this experience of loss and its many forms.

The Vineyard Theatre journey places the audience in a car, traveling hundreds of miles as the actor recalls his own loss and invites his virtual members to participate in the journey.

The show challenges the live virtual performance space to be as live as it has ever been, sometimes almost dizzying in its look.
