White House Called NYC Man During Capitol Riot On Jan. 6: Report
The 9-second call was placed to a Brooklyn man who traveled to Washington, D.C. the night before with two friends, according to a report.

NEW YORK CITY — As supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, the White House placed a 9-second phone call to a cell phone belonging to an accused rioter from Brooklyn, according to a report by CNN.
The call, first disclosed by a Republican congressman who worked for the Jan. 6 committee, was placed just after 4:30 p.m. to Anton Lunyk of Brooklyn, who traveled to Washington, D.C. the night before with two friends, CNN reported, citing public records and multiple people familiar with the investigation.
Lunyk was arrested at his home in Midwood in May 2021 after federal investigators confirmed that he was among rioters who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, officials said.

Lunyk was charged after at least two tipsters told the FBI they spotted him in photos and videos from articles about the riots, including a livestream posted by a since-arrested social media influencer who goes by "Baked Alaska," according to court documents.
The livestream was taken from inside a senator's "working space," investigators said, though they did not specify which senator's office it was from.

Lunyk's charges included knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building, according to the documents.
Lunyk was released as his case moved through court. He pleaded guilty to charges in April and on Sept. 15, he was sentenced to 12 months of probation, including two months of home confinement, and 60 hours of community service. He must also pay a $742 fine and $500 restitution,
According to CNN, Lunyk does not remember receiving the phone call and said he doesn’t know anyone who worked in the White House during Trump's presidency. The call also was not mentioned in his court documents, CNN reported.
Investigators are still unsure who placed the phone call from the White House and why, according to CNN.
