NYC Winter Storm: City Digs Out Of More Snow Than All Last Winter
A winter storm warning remains in effect Thursday until 1 p.m. as another 1 to 2 inches of snow blows in on winds up to 50 mph.

NEW YORK CITY — A major storm dumped more snow on New York City in one night than all last winter, according to the National Weather Service.
New Yorkers woke up Thursday to a not-so-wonderful winter wonderland after the biggest storm in years overnight brought up to 8 inches of snow, sometimes mixed with sleet.
The snowfall totals ranged from 3 inches in parts of Brooklyn to 8 inches in Astoria, Queens, weather spotters reported.

It’s less than the 12 inches or more forecasters warned of before the storm descended on the city and much of the Northeast on Wednesday. But it’s still more snow than the city saw all last winter.
“12:05 am. 6.5" of snow and sleet as of midnight at Central Park, NY,” the National Weather Service’s New York office tweeted. “This winter storm is greater than the total snow for the 2019-2020 winter season of 4.8".”
