• Man dies after falling into Erie Canal in Wayne County (ithacajournal.com) — A Canadian visitor died after slipping between a boat and the canal wall and falling into the Erie Canal in Newark near Van Buren Street on Saturday evening. Newark police, firefighters, and several Wayne County agencies responded, rescuing the man’s partner from the water and later recovering his body in what authorities call a tragic accident.
