Orange County officials seek to push back start of Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (midhudsonnews.com) — Newburgh Mayor Torrance Harvey has joined other Orange County leaders in asking Albany to delay key deadlines in New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, warning residents can’t afford the projected cost impacts. Their March 22 letter to top state lawmakers cites pandemic fallout, inflation, and supply-chain problems, and points to a state analysis suggesting the law could add more than $2.23 per gallon to gas prices by 2031.

The case, involving Newburgh police and state troopers after a Broadway crash, is under active investigation by the state Attorney General, with family and civil rights advocates demanding transparency and accountability.

Woman Found Bleeding From Neck At Hudson Valley Motel, Resulted From Domestic Violence, Cops Say (patch.com) — A woman critically injured in a domestic violence incident at a New Windsor motel was rushed to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh, where police say her neck wound was life‑threatening. Newburgh police assisted New Windsor officers and county prosecutors in the investigation, which led to multiple felony charges and the suspect’s jailing.

AME Zion Church of Newburgh Celebrates 199 Years (hudsonvalleypress.com) — Newburgh’s historic AME Zion Church just marked its 199th anniversary with a week of services, awards, and community celebration at its Washington Street home.
