Advocates say restoring ferry service would ease gridlock on the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge and drive more visitors to downtown Newburgh businesses, while also strengthening the case for eventually bringing back weekday commuter runs.

Newburgh's deputy city manager resigns (midhudsonnews.com) — Newburgh’s deputy city manager, Michael Neppl, has resigned just five months after being promoted from chief of staff, following the earlier departure of City Manager Todd Venning. Mayor Torrance Harvey says the city will now search for a replacement while city engineer and public works commissioner Jason Morris continues serving as acting city manager.

He Demanded Money, Beat And Knocked Over His Victim, Then Rifled Through His Pockets And Took Valuables (patch.com) — A Newburgh man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison plus post-release supervision for a 2024 street robbery in the City of Newburgh, where a pedestrian was beaten and robbed in daylight. Prosecutors relied on witness testimony after the victim later died from unrelated causes, and officials say the case shows their commitment to community safety.

Popular Book Turned Netflix Series Filming in the Hudson Valley (hudsonvalleypost.com) — Newburgh-area kids have a chance to appear in a Netflix series, with casting underway for summer-camp scenes filming in June in Newburgh and nearby towns.
