Thousands Of Customers Lose Power In Thanksgiving Winds

The high, gusty winds are expected to diminish as Thanksgiving Day goes on.

UPDATE — By noon on Thanksgiving, O&R reported it had restored power to more than 4,000 customers and was working on power for 1,000 more.


High, gusty winds overnight left more than 1,000 customers without power in the Hudson Valley on Thanksgiving Day 2019. Most power is expected to be restored by Thanksgiving afternoon. Check with your power company for specifics.

  • Cen Hud reports 1,061 customers out, including 347 in Dutchess, 520 in Orange and 40 in Ulster county.
  • O&R reports 199 customers out in Rockland County.
  • NYSEG reports 204 customers out, including 104 in Putnam County.
  • Con Ed reports 1,127 customers out including 35 in Westchester County.

Winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected, along with gusts of 35 to 45 mph through the day. Clouds will mix with sun this morning, and temperatures will rise a few degrees, peaking around 50 degrees. Gusty northwest winds will prevail today, making it feel cooler.
