52-Year-Old Fatal Hit-And-Run Victim Found In Monsey Is ID'd

Ramapo Town Supervisor Michael Specht promised that the Ramapo Police Department is thoroughly investigating the circumstances of her death.

RAMAPO, NY — A missing 52-year-old woman who was found dead along a Rockland County roadside has been identified.

"I join together with our entire community in mourning the tragic death of Mrs. Miriam Sussman on Sunday evening," Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht said in a statement released on Monday afternoon. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sussman family during this trying time, and our hearts and minds are with the entire Ramapo community that is grieving this terrible loss."

Sussman was the victim of an apparent hit-and-run.

Carlton Road remained closed near Whisper Lane for much of the morning as Ramapo police investigated in the area where Sussman was found dead in the early hours Monday.

"The safety of all our residents is of paramount importance," Specht said. "The Ramapo Police Department is thoroughly investigating the circumstances surrounding Mrs. Sussman’s untimely passing as she was evidently walking along Carlton Road. May the Sussman family know no further sorrow and may Mrs. Miriam Sussman’s memory be a blessing."
