$865K Homeland Security Grant To Rockland County
The money is meant for emergency preparedness and counterterrorism efforts.

NEW CITY, NY — Congresswoman Nita Lowey, Ranking Member on the House Appropriations Committee, announced a total of $5,292,242 in federal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Homeland Security Grant Program grants for emergency preparedness and counterterrorism efforts in Westchester and Rockland Counties.
“As New Yorkers know, threats of terrorism and natural disasters are all too real, and we need to have the resources necessary to protect our communities in the event of a crisis,” said Lowey (D-NY17/Rockland-Westchester).
Rockland County will receive a $744,784 SHSP grant and a $120,748 EMPG.

“Here in Rockland County we work with every level of government to maximize the funding we receive. Ensuring the safety and security of county residents and visitors is our top priority,” said Rockland County Executive Ed Day. “I thank Congresswoman Lowey for her advocacy on behalf of the people of Rockland.”
The State Homeland Security Program provides funding to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other catastrophes. The Urban Areas Security Initiative focuses on enhancing regional preparedness in major metropolitan areas. The Emergency Management Performance Grant provides funding to states to assist state, local, territorial, and tribal governments in preparing for all hazards.
