• Clarkstown Provides Update on DEFM Investigations (rocklandnews.com) — Clarkstown officials, based in New City, say internal, ethics and criminal investigations into the town's Engineering and Facilities Management Department are still ongoing, with no findings yet announced. Several employees and vendors have been sidelined during the reviews, while local figures including DEFM leaders, Deputy Supervisor Al Moroni and Highway Superintendent Robert Milone trade competing allegations over contracts and ethics concerns.
• $2.8 million in state funding given to Rockland County first responder agencies (news12.com) — New City residents will see their local ambulance corps receive $415,000 as part of $2.8 million in new state funding for Rockland County first responders. Announced during a visit to New City Ambulance Corps by Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Assemblyman Patrick Carroll, the money will pay for new equipment and facility upgrades across nearby fire and ambulance agencies.
• FDNY firefighter tells 9/11 survival story 25 years later (lohud.com) — A retired FDNY firefighter now living in New City is part of a small crew who survived the World Trade Center collapse and recently reunited at the 9/11 Memorial to reflect on that day. Their stories highlight survivor's guilt, lasting health and emotional impacts, and how they've rebuilt their lives across New York while honoring fallen colleagues.
