ARC Raises $70K, Honors Harold Peterson at Golf Classic

The ARC of Rockland raised more than $70,000 at its 25^th anniversary Golf Classic on Monday at the Philip J. Rotella Memorial Golf Course in Thiells.

In its 25 years, the Golf Classic has raised close to $1 million to support the efforts of the ARC.  This year, for his commitment to the organization, ARC honored the chairman and creator of the fundraising golf outing, Provident Bank Vice President Harold J. Peterson of New City.

To make the day a little more special, the Rockland County Legislature even declared Monday as Harold J. Peterson Day in honor of Peterson, who was head of the county's finances under the administration of then-County Executive John Grant.

The golf event kicked-off at 8:30 a.m. with a breakfast, followed by the shotgun round at 10 a.m.  The golfers were greeted upon their return from the course with a magnificent lobster tail, steak and chicken dinner.  Nearing the end of the dinner was the awards presentation, which began with friends, colleagues and prominent community figures honoring Peterson.  This was followed by the presentation of prizes for raffle winners, a brief auction and the winners of the event's golfing contests.
