Arrests After Shooting At New City Home
Three people face weapons and drug charges; one is 16.

NEW CITY, NY — Clarkstown police report the arrest of three people in connection with shots fired at a New City home. Two people were charged initially, and a third was arrested later on both weapon and drug charges.
On Thursday November 23, 2017 the Clarkstown Police Department responded to 3 Lowell Dr in New City for a report of an attempted robbery and shots fired. Officers arrived at the residence and were met by the occupants of the home who said the homeowner and three friends were on the back deck smoking cigarettes when two unknown males came onto the property, approached them and began threatening them for unknown reasons.
The victims stated that one man had a knife in his hand and the other had a revolver in his hand. The suspects then ran towards the front of the home — at which time the victims heard multiple gun shots.

During the investigation by detectives a total of four gunshots were observed to have struck the home.
The Clarkstown Detective Bureau conducted a thorough investigation leading to the identification and apprehension of two suspects. They are Hoang Vu, 20, of New City and a 16-year-old male from New City. The identity of the second suspect will not be released due to his age.

Both suspects were apprehended at their residences Nov. 25 without incident. They were transported to police headquarters and processed. Hoang Vu was charged with attempted murder 2nd (felony), attempted assault 1st(felony), reckless endangerment 1st (felony), criminal sale of a firearm to a minor(felony), criminal possession of a weapon 2nd (felony), criminal possession of a weapon 4th (misdemeanor), criminal trespass 3rd (misdemeanor), criminal solicitation 4th (misdemeanor) and criminal facilitation 4th (misdemeanor).

The 16-year-old was charged with attempted murder 2nd (felony), attempted assault 1st (felony), reckless endangerment 1st (felony), criminal possession of a weapon 2nd (felony) and criminal trespass (misdemeanor). Police did not release a photo.
Both were arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $250,000. They were transported to Rockland County Jail.
As the investigation continued, a third suspect was identified to have a connection to both Vu and the 16-year-old.
The Clarkstown Police Street Crime Unit apprehended Erik Jackson, 21, of Nanuet.

He was taken into custody at his Nanuet home and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell (felony), criminal possession of a narcotic drug (felony), criminal possession of a firearm 2nd (felony), criminal possession of marihuana 2nd (felony) and criminal possession of stolen property 4th (felony). He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $100,000. He was transported to Rockland County Jail.
The Clarkstown Detective Bureau is continuing to investigate this incident.
