The East Ramapo Board of Education held a special session Wednesday, and came out of executive session to approve a separation agreement with schools Superintendent Joel Klein.
The board accepted his resignation effective Oct. 31 as its next order of business. The announcements were greeted with cheers from members of the audience.
The trustees then approved the appointment of Deborah Wortham as interim superintendent. Wortham is attracted to districts in need of remedial work.
