BSA Troop 97 (New City) 50th Eagle Celebration

The Eagle Scouts of Troop 97 (New City) gather to celebrate their 50th Eagle Scout

BSA Troop 97 New City 50th Eagle Celebration
New City, New York (November 22, 2017)

The scouts of Rockland County continually do great things throughout our community. This Friday, November 24th, 2017, the Eagle Scouts from Troop 97 New City will gather at the Casa Mia Manor house in Blauvelt to celebrate the advancement of the Troop’s 50th Eagle Scout.

The list of beneficiaries for these Eagle projects is long and diverse. The projects range from the restoration of trails and bridges; creation of wheelchair accessible planters and gardens; refurbishing children’s gardens; creation of a memorial garden; restoration of a historical site; cataloging historical artifacts - the list is as diverse as the scouts that led the projects.

Troop 97 has been an active troop in the community, and the members of the troop have performed countless hours of community service, both on Eagle Service projects and simple community service tasks. From a young age, the scouts are encouraged to become active in the troop’s Eagle Scout projects and community services, and this is evident in the recent milestone of 50 Eagles. Since this event was planned earlier this year, an additional four Troop 97 scouts have attained the Eagle Rank. The Troop 97 Scouts show no signs of slowing down in this process with another group currently working towards this illustrious rank.

A quote from Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts sums it up well:
“Boy Scouts is not merely to give you fun and adventure but that, like the backwoodsmen, explorers, and frontiersmen whom you are following, you will be fitting yourself to help your country and to be of service to other people who may be in need of help. That is what the best men are out to do.”
The Scouts continually work towards service to our community. We congratulate the Eagle Scouts for leading these projects that have made a difference.
