Can't Wait Till Wegmans Opens in Montvale?

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY — Aficionados of Wegmans, the upstate New York supermarket chain whose transplanted fans clamor for sites in their new communities, take heart. Wegmans continues its expansion in New Jersey with the opening of its newest store on Sunday. (Not downstate New York, grrrr, but we digress.)

Yes, it's all the way down in Hanover, but still, it's a pretty straight shot down I-287. The store is located on Sylvan Way near the intersection of I-287 and NJ Route 10.

There are seven Wegmans in New Jersey (and none in the Hudson Valley, though that will change in 2018 when one opens in Westchester.) Hanover will make eight.

In September, a ninth is scheduled to open in Montvale, right over the border. It's closer to Rockland, but if you just can't wait, take a drive.

At 113,000 square feet, the Hanover store has an open floor plan on a single level with a generous seating area in the Market Café. How generous? There's space for more than 300 diners indoors and out.

The store also features one of Wegmans’ popular restaurant concepts, The Burger Bar. A 15,000 sq. ft. wine, beer, and spirits shop is leased to a third-party owner in an adjoining space.

Company officials say that among the 65,000 individual products carried at Wegmans Hanover are more than 3,000 organic items, up to 700 produce offerings, 300 imported and domestic cheeses – including Wegmans’ own cave-aged cheeses – a wide array of international ingredients, and whole fish delivered daily and cut to order. Store hours are 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.

Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is a 93-store supermarket chain with stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts. The family-owned company celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2016.

Wegmans has been named one of the ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’ by FORTUNE magazine for 20 consecutive years, ranking No. 10 among large companies in 2017.
