Car V. Bear In Hudson Valley [PHOTO]

Police are checking woods and yards to try to locate the injured animal.

RAMAPO, NY — A car collided with a bear in Rockland County, leaving the driver and the bear injured. Ramapo police said the incident occurred on Route 202 Thursday between Grandview Avenue and Kimmissy Court.

After being hit, the bear wandered into the woods.

Police said the sole occupant of the car sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and Ramapo Valley Ambulance Corps and Hatzoloh Ambulance responded to the scene.

Officers will be checking the woods and yards in the area in order to located the injured bear.

Police said motorists should anticipate traffic delays in the area.
