Child Porn Charge for Nyack Volunteer Arrested for Sex Abuse

Marcus Stroud had been arrested in February, accused of luring a boy he helped coach into having sex.

Marcus Stroud, the volunteer coach accused in February of child sex abuse, now also faces a child pornography charge.

Clarkstown police announced Thursday that Stroud, 18, had been arrested April 1 on a felony charge of possessing sexual performance by a child under 16.

He was charged in February with criminal sexual act 2nd (felony), sex abuse 2nd (misdemeanor), sexual misconduct (misdemeanor) and endangering the welfare of a child (misdemeanor).

Police said then that Stroud had become acquainted with the victim, a 12-year-old boy, through a wrestling program. Stroud has been involved in wrestling programs in Rockland, Westchester and Bergen counties serving as a volunteer coach. Stroud lured the victim to engage in sexual acts through the use of Snapchat and other social media outlets, police alleged.

The initial social media contact began in December 2015. Stroud was arrested Feb. 22 after the victim’s parents reported the issue to police.

Police added the child pornography charge last week after an item was found on a computer device he possessed. He was arraigned on the new charge in Nyack Village Justice Court April 1. Bail was set at $10,000. He was transported to the Rockland County Jail. He is due back in court April 7.
