Clarkstown North Softball Defeats Suffern in Extra Innings
Rams had difficulty getting it going on offense, but were able to hit when it counted.
In a softball game that went scoreless into extra innings, the lady Rams of Clarkstown North scored in the ninth to defeat the Mounties, 1-0.
Strong pitching and fielding on both sides characterized Tuesday afternoon's game. Despite a solid offensive effort by both teams, neither could outdo the opposition's fielding for the majority of the game. This led the game to its exciting conclusion in the bottom of the ninth in a game that normally goes for seven innings.
As the game wore on, the Rams had difficulty hitting Mounty pitching. To make matters worse, when they were able to land a hit, it was effectively fielded with very few errors. As a result, while they kept Suffern from scoring, they could not get an offense going of their own. That is until junior captain Laura Brenna scored the winning run for them.
