Clarkstown Police Foil Bank Robbery Friday UPDATE

Cops chased down the getaway car, according to reports.

NEW CITY, NY — Clarkstown police responded to a bank robbery in New City on Friday afternoon. Staff at the Key Bank on South Little Tor Road reported an armed robbery at 2:20 p.m.

The caller reported that 2 males dressed all in black who had their head and face covered, brandished a hand gun. One male jumped the counter and started to grab an undetermined amount of cash while the other suspect held the employees at gunpoint. Both suspects exited the bank on foot.

After a brief investigation by the Clarkstown Police Department, three suspects were arrested when officers stopped a 2006 Infinity on New Hempstead Rd near the Palisades Interstate Parkway which contained cash proceeds were found inside the vehicle. The investigation is ongoing and as information becomes available it will be released accordingly.

Police held a press conference Friday afternoon but withheld some details of the investigation. "We don't want to jeopardize the prosecution of the suspects," police said on Facebook. "Our intention was to report that arrests were made and that we feel very confident that the suspects were all apprehended."
