Cops: Ex-Boyfriend Stabs 2, One Severely, In New City

A New City couple were taken to Westchester Medical Center and one of them is in intensive care, Clarkstown police said.

NEW CITY, NY — A Pomona man is accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend and another man on Sunday night, Clarkstown police said. The victims said that the suspect kicked in their door and stabbed them both. He then ran away.

At about 11:20 p.m. Sept. 17, the Clarkstown Police Department responded to a home on West Clarkstown Road in New City for a report of a domestic incident that resulted in the stabbing of a man and a woman. Patrol officers arrived and identified two stabbing victims in the residence.

Police searched the area without result.

Rockland Paramedics and New City Volunteer Ambulance responded to treat the victims. Both were transported to Westchester Medical Center.

The 29-year-old New City woman had a stab wound in her torso area. She is expected to survive.

The 35-year-old New City man had multiple stab wounds in his torso area. He is still being treated for severe stab wounds and is currently in intensive care. There is no prognosis on his condition at this time.

The victims have a 2-year-old child in common who was home at the time of the incident. He was not injured and is staying with family.

Based on preliminary investigation by the Clarkstown Detective Bureau, units responded to a location in Mount Ivy, where officers were able to arrest the woman’s ex-boyfriend, Brandyn Johnston, 24, at 1:10 a.m.

Johnston suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with attempted murder 2nd (felony), burglary 1st (felony), criminal possession of a weapon 3rd (felony) and endangering the welfare of a child (misdemeanor).

Johnston will be arraigned today in Clarkstown Justice Court, police said.
