County Legislature Approves Donation of Surplus Computer Monitors
East Ramapo School and Local Not-For-Profit Agencies will Receive Surplus Monitors

The Rockland County Legislature approved a resolution at the Tuesday evening meeting to authorize the County to donate surplus computer monitors to a local school district and four not-for-profit agencies.
The agencies responded to a public notice issued by the County’s Director of Purchasing and were able to demonstrate the need and specific plans for the use of the equipment in accordance with a section of New York’s General Municipal law that authorizes government entities to donate surplus equipment to schools, libraries and not-for-profit institutions.
The local agencies that will receive the monitors are:

“There is little resale or trade-in value for this equipment, so this donation will ensure that it is used for purposes that are beneficial to students and the not-for-profit agencies’ consumers,” said Chairman of the Legislature Alden H. Wolfe. “All will be able to replace aging or outdated monitors at no cost for use in learning centers, by individuals with disabilities and for distribution to low-income individuals. It’s important that technology is made available to advance education, to open up a whole new world to the homebound and to assist low-income individuals or persons with disabilities in becoming more self-sufficient.”
