County of Rockland Hosts Home Energy Workshop

A free home energy workshop will be held at Rockland Community College on August 18.

Go green on Thursday, August 18 when the County of Rockland holds a workshop educating homeowners on green energy initiatives. The free event is open to all across the county and will last from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Technology Center, Ellipse Room at Rockland Community College in Suffern.

Last June, Rockland County built a green initiative website, called Renew Rockland. The site helps homeowners in the area to learn about some of the green services offered in Rockland. It is a resource where people can begin to understand and use what companies such as NYSERDA and Orange & Rockland Utilites provide.

Some of these services include, but are not limited to, free home energy audits, appliance rebates, and information on energy home improvements.

This particular workshop will feature experts who will speak about energy saving practices as well as vendors who will provide green initiative information. People who attend the session can sign up for a free energy audit and learn more about the Renew Rockland initiative.

While those interested are encouraged to sign up online, walk-ins will be welcome. Registration is available  at www.RenewRockland.org or by calling 1-866-495-2959. Hurry up and register because the first 150 to sign up will be given a free pack of CFL light bulbs as an incentive.
