CSEA Endorsements In Rockland
CSEA recently endorsed a number of candidates running for office in Rockland County for the November 2017 elections.

NEW CITY, NY - From CSEA: CSEA, the largest union representing public servants across Rockland County, today announced the union’s endorsements of candidates in the November 2017 general election. The endorsements come via the CSEA Southern Region Political Action Committee upon recommendation from CSEA local and unit political action committees.
Key endorsements this year include Maureen Porette for Rockland County Executive, Paul Piperato for
Rockland County Clerk, Thom Kleiner for Town of Orangetown Supervisor, Michael Specht for Town of Ramapo Supervisor, and Michael Sullivan for Town of Clarkstown Supervisor.
“We firmly believe that our endorsed candidates are the ones who will best serve the working people of
Rockland County, whether you’re a union member or not,” said CSEA Southern Region President Billy Riccaldo. “Not only do these candidates have impressive credentials, they also possess the compassion and integrity that has been so lacking in many elected officials over the past several years.”

Riccaldo stated that Porette’s experience as an attorney, combined with her personal involvement with many
non-profits and causes throughout the county, will allow her to hit the ground running when she takes office.
“Maureen Porette has shown that she has the ability to unite Rockland County,” Riccaldo said. “Ed Day has
turned to pot-stirring political tactics that further divide Rocklanders at a time when we need to be working together to strengthen our county. His abrupt closure of the Summit Park hospital and nursing home, which should never have happened the way it did, was cruel to the people living and working there. These past few years of such a callous governing style demonstrate why it’s imperative that we elect Maureen Porette in November.”

Riccaldo complimented Piperato on his strong leadership as county clerk.
“Paul Piperato has continued to modernize operations in his office, boosting transparency and making his
office a model for accessibility,” Riccaldo said.
Regarding CSEA’s town supervisor endorsements, Riccaldo noted that CSEA had a positive working
relationship with Kleiner during his previous years as supervisor. He also cited Sullivan’s years of experience as a Clarkstown police officer as an asset to the community. Additionally, Riccaldo said that Specht’s legal experience will be an asset for the Town of Ramapo.
“These three town supervisor candidates have proven records of leadership in their communities,” said Riccaldo. “Rather than simply making campaign promises, they have many solid accomplishments that have bettered their towns.”
