DARE Grads Ready to Face Life's Choices

Clarkstown teachers, school administrators, town officials, family and friends gathered for the fifth-graders' DARE graduation at Lakewood Elementary School.

Clarkstown teachers, school administrators, town officials, family and friends gathered for the fifth-graders' graduation from the D.A.R.E. program at Lakewood Elementary School Wednesday.

Students in D.A.R.E. programs throughout the Clarkstown schools are finishing up their programs this week, having worked with Clarkstown police officers on ways of coping with peer pressure and how to make good choices in life - especially in saying "no" to alcohol, drugs and tobacco.

School officials say the lessons learned in D.A.R.E. in fifth grade are especially useful for students as they prepare to move on to middle school.
