Driver in Bike Hit-and-Run Charged with Felony

A New City resident like the victim, he turned himself in 21 hours later.

The driver of the car involved in the hit-and-run accident in New City May 9 turned himself in to the Clarkstown Police Department at 11:15 p.m. that night.

The accident had occurred 21 hours earlier—at about 2:10AM Saturday on Old Route 304 and Cypress Street.

Police said Robert Faist, 32, of River Rise Road in New City was arrested on a felony-level charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injuries.

He was processed and given an appearance ticket to return to court on May 18. His vehicle was impounded for evidence.

The victim of the collision remains in critical condition in Nyack Hospital, police said today.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
