Eagle Court of Honor for John Margolies of Troop 78

John Margolies of Troop 78 was feted at an Eagle Court of Honor held at Temple Beth Shalom in New City—site of his Eagle project.

“Great to see our young people continue to excel!” said Rockland County Executive Ed Day.

Margolies had graduated from the temple’s preschool in 2002—and in 2013, some parents came to him and asked if he could help restore a pergola on the grounds.

“We soon came to realize that the best way to fix the pergola was to dismantle it and build a new one,” he said.

He planned the whole project, including enlisting professionals and volunteers and raising $2,200 to cover expenses.

He even included electricity in the new, expanded pergola and patio.
