400 Years: Two Row Wampum History, Canoe Paddle, and The Future

Join us to learn about an important landmark event coming to Rockland: the 400th Anniversary of the Two Row Wampum agreement, the first treaty of peaceful relations made between the Dutch settlers and the Haudenosaunee people. (Iroquois).

This summer, the Two Row Wampum Renewal Campaign will paddle down the Hudson River to signify a re-commitment to Peace, Friendship and Forever, making several overnight stops along the way, including Stony Point (TUESDAY, AUGUST 5th)  and Piermont (THURSDAY AUGUST 7th). In renewing this treaty all people are invited to enter into new agreements of living in peaceful and good relations with the Native people of this land, and with all the lands on which we live.

Listen to a talk by Frieda J. Jacques, Clan Mother from the Onondaga Nation and Jack Manno from SUNY Environmental Forestry, and learn more about the treaty, the paddle, and how to get involved in this historic event.  The speakers will be welcomed by Chief Dwaine Perry of the Ramapough Nation.
