Dana Brand, author of multiple books on the Mets to include Last Days at Shea: Delight and Despair in the Life of a Mets Fan, passed away unexpectedly in May at the age of 56. A New York Times’sports columnist, last week describes the writer’s first introduction to the team: “It was 1962, and [he] was listening to the Mets’ inaugural game, and so began a love affair that would last until his death on [May 25].” Please join authors Greg Prince (Faith and Fear in Flushing) and Howard Megdal (Taking The Field, The Baseball Talmud, The LoHud Mets Blog) at the Tappan Library on Thursday, June 16 at 7 p.m. as they read highlights from the late sportswriter's work to include “Last Days”. The library is located at 93 Main Street in Tappan. Pre-register online at http://www.taplib.org or call the library at 845-359-3877.
