The New York State Police in Haverstraw are investigating a one-car fatal accident on the Palisades Parkway in the Town of Haverstraw north of exit 13.
State Police responded to the accident at 5:55 a.m. May 2. Preliminary reconstruction of the crash scene shows the vehicle was traveling north when it veered off the west shoulder, traveled through the grassy median and smashed into a tree.
The operator of the vehicle Myrian Romero, 31 of Union City, New Jersey, was extricated from the vehicle by the Hillcrest Fire Department and pronounced dead at the scene by the Rockland County Medical Examiner.
