FBI Still Looking For Rockland County Killer: Reports

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — It's been nine years since Eugene Palmer told his sister that he had killed his daughter-in-law, and nine years since anyone has seen him.

The FBI still believes he's alive, and last week they raided his granddaughter's home in Warwick after receiving a tip that he was there, NBCNew York reported.

He wasn't.

Palmer disappeared into Harriman State Park at the age of 73 after telling his sister Elaine Babcock that he had killed Tammy Palmer, shooting her outside her home in Stony Point.

Palmer lived across the street from the 36-year-old mother of two. She had gotten a restraining order against his son John, whom she accused of assault. She was found shot, dead, behind her home, shortly after she had put her children on the bus for school, according to reports.

His family said they believe he died in the park, but law enforcement officials don't agree. An experienced hunter and outdoorsman, he knew the park well. The FBI has kept him on their Most Wanted list for nine years.

His granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Rose, wrote an angry post on Facebook after the raid, NBC New York reported. She said 40 FBI agents searched her home at gunpoint and handcuffed her and her children.

"Thanks for wasting my time, traumatizing my children and wasting tax payers money. I literally still feel like I can't breathe. LEAVE MY FAMILY ALONE," she said, according to NBC New York. "My children, my babies were handcuffed like felons and slammed against cars... when does it end? When is enough, enough when will they leave my family alone."
