The blast happened at a fire equipment company in Wallkill.

Orange and Rockland Fire reporting from state police: Frank Buono suffered a severed right leg, below the knee and Christopher Foust had both legs amputated.

State police and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to Oprandy’s Fire Equipment in the Town of Wallkill for a report of an explosion Friday morning.

The responding Troopers located two workers, Frank J. Buono, 23 of Goshen and Christopher Foust, 35 of Warwick, in the rear room of the building with severe injuries. Buono suffered a severe injury to his right leg and Foust suffered severe injuries to both of his legs.

Troopers, along with the assistance of Town of Wallkill officers utilized tourniquets on both victims while waiting for EMS personnel.

Buono and Foust were transported by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center and are currently listed in serious condition.

Investigation revealed that Foust was filling a fire extinguisher with air when the tank ruptured causing injuries to himself and Buono.
