Firefighters Called To Blaze In West Haverstraw

UPDATE — A 67-year-old man and a dog died in Sunday's fire on Route 9W in West Haverstraw. Firefighters attempted to save them both with CPR.

The fire did not appear suspicious, officials told News12.

WEST HAVERSTRAW, NY — Firefighters were called out to a house fire in West Haverstraw on Sunday. CPR was being performed on one victim, according to comments on the Rockland Fires Facebook page.

Congers, Hillcrest and Thiells fire departments assisted on the scene or with standby.
