Swim Coach Sentenced In Child Sex Abuse Case

Swimming legend David "Skip" Storch had pleaded guilty to one charge.

NEW CITY, NY — Swimming legend David “Skip” Storch, who sexually abused a pre-teen girl, has been sentenced to seven years in state prison with 15 years post-release supervision. When a long-distance swimmer, Storch used his feats to call attention to environmental issues.

He had pleaded guilty to one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, a class “B” Felony.

“The defendant has admitted to being a sexual predator who took advantage of an innocent child who trusted him, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said in his announcement Tuesday. "For that reason alone, the prison sentence meted out by the Court today is more than warranted. He has been held accountable for his crimes and, as punishment, will be jailed for seven years and registered with the State as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.”

conduct with a young girl at a location in South Nyack. The abuse began when the victim was 10-years-old.
