Most car seats are misused, Clarkstown police say.

NEW CITY, NY — Clarkstown police host a child seat check on Sunday.
"Based on our experience, we have found that 90-95 percent of all child seats are misused to one degree or another," say Clarkstown police, whose Child Passenger Safety Team runs a monthly fitting station where child seats are checked and parents/caregivers are instructed in proper installation and use.
Child seats will be checked by specially trained police officers who are Child Passenger Safety Technicians. Car seats are checked by appointment only. To schedule one, you can do it online on the website by clicking on the CONTACT US link, or call 845-639-5930 or e-mail: b.gorsky@clarkstown.org.
