Gigi Tom Takes Oath of Office as Postmaster of New City
The Clarkstown resident followed a tradition of public service when he was sworn in Friday.

NEW CITY, NY — Clarkstown resident Gigi Tom followed a tradition of public service when he was sworn in Aug. 23 as Postmaster of New City, NY. U.S. Postal Service Westchester District Manager Elvin Mercado administered the oath of office to Postmaster Tom at a special ceremony at the New City Post Office at 245 North Main St.
Postmaster Tom leads a dedicated group of 52 postal employees engaged in providing the residents and businesses at 12,000 addresses in New City with the best possible mail delivery and retail customer experiences.

The New City postal team delivers 55,000 pieces of mail on an average business day. Retail customer service business hours at the New City Post Office are 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Mon. – Fri., and 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Sat.
The New City Post Office lobby features a state-of-the-art self-service kiosk that is accessible 24/7 for those in need of postal retail services at off-hours or on holidays. Just about anything you can do at a postal retail counter can be done at the self-service kiosk. You can weigh packages, print shipping labels, and even buy stamps.

Postmaster Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Delhi University in India and began his postal career in 1995 as a city carrier at the Congers, NY Post Office.
Prior to his selection as Postmaster of New City, Tom served as Postmaster of Suffern, Officer-In-Charge at Spring Valley, Officer-In-Charge at Blauvelt, Supervisor Customer Service at Spring Valley, Acting Supervisor in Orangeburg and Congers.
Gigi and his wife Jolly live in Congers and are the proud parents of Marlene, Christine and Steven.
Tom enjoys spending time with his family and is active in parish activities at the local church, including service as a lay minister.
