Cops: Gun-Waving Congers Man Arrested After Taxi Fare Dispute Turns Racist

He's charged with two felonies.

At 1:15 a.m. Sunday, New York State Troopers were flagged down by a taxi driver on Main Street in New Paltz who reported that he was threatened by a customer who brandished a firearm inside the cab.

Troopers located Andrew M. Plachecki, 26, from Congers, NY at the Mobil gas station on Main Street.

During their investigation, they also found that Plachecki allegedly used derogatory language about the race of the taxi cab driver while displaying a handgun. The reason for the conflict? Police said he was disputing the amount of the fare.

Plachecki was charged with Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree, an E Felony, and Menacing in the Second Degree, an E Felony.

Plachecki was arraigned in the Town of Plattekill Court before Justice Murphy and remanded to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash/50,000 bond.
