Officials condemn latest anti-semitic acts In Rockland

Graffiti reading “No Jews” was found spray-painted on a street and on a Realtor’s sign in Pomona. Officers found graffiti at two homes for sale on Carteret Drive, as well as on a Realtor’s “For Sale” sign.

Ramapo police are investigating the anti-Semitic incident, according to a report on lohud.com.

Rockland County Legislator Aron B. Wieder is condemning the acts of anti-Semitism.

“I know people from all walks of life in Rockland, from various towns and villages, and of various backgrounds,” Wieder said in a written statement. “Most of our residents are decent people who care about their families and their communities. They would never engage in this type of behavior.

“Unfortunately, there is a small group that has engaged in hate,” Wieder said. “It is up to the rest of us to stand as one in the face of this repugnant belief system and behavior. I know the majority of county residents join with me in condemning these actions.”

Clarkstown Town Supervisor George Hoehmann also issued a statement.

"The anti-Semitic graffiti and vandalism that occurred today in Pomona is deeply troubling and I condemn it in the strongest terms," Hoehmann said. "The Clarkstown Police are stepping up patrols in the area and are ready to assist the Ramapo police in their investigation. Antisemitism is abhorrent in any form and will not be tolerated in Rockland County."
