Hazardous Weather Outlooks Expanded In Hudson Valley

The National Weather Service has expanded its Hazardous Weather Outlooks for Sunday and Monday. For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and northern Westchester counties:

DAY ONE...Today and Tonight. There is the potential for pockets of freezing rain and drizzle late this morning into this evening, mainly in higher elevations. A glaze of ice accretion is possible. DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. A widespread 2 to 3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, is expected through Monday night. Much of that likely falls late tonight into Monday afternoon, posing a threat for minor to moderate urban and poor drainage flooding.


Southern Westchester County has been issued both a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Coastal Flooding Advisory. Residents should expect 2 to 3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, through Monday night.

Dutchess County has been issued both a Hazardous Weather Outlook and a Wind Advisory.

For Dutchess and Ulster, the National Weather Service says "Some spotty sleet or freezing rain may occur in a few spots Sunday. Locally slippery conditions are possible. Then a period of heavy rainfall with a slight chance of thunderstorms is expected on Monday. This rainfall may result in flooding of urban, low lying and poor drainage areas."
