HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Tuesday in Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties. With highs in the low 90s and rising humidity, it's going to feel like it's 95 degrees.
The heat advisory will go into effect at 10 a.m. and will last until 9 p.m.

A Heat Advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 95 to 99 degrees for two or more consecutive days, or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! In cases of heat stroke call 9 1 1.
It won't be cool at night. Overnight temperatures Monday and Tuesday will range from the upper 60s in outlying areas to the mid 70s in New York City.
Not only that, widely scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Monday evening and again on Tuesday afternoon.

Looking out a few days, we will have temporary relief. A cold front approaches the area on Wednesday. High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler, in the mid to upper 80s, on
Wednesday. Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected Wednesday afternoon as the cold front approaches the area.
"Beyond Wednesday it appears that temps will be cooler and more comfortable with low 80’s likely and a few good nights of sleeping weather," said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "Temps will slowly begin to climb again as we head into next weekend with temps slowly creeping back into the mid 80’s."
