Most of the region’s political representatives were in attendance, including Congresswoman Nita Lowey, Rockland County Executive Ed Day, and many leaders from public service (military, police, fire), as well as the business, education, and philanthropic communities.
Each alumni honoree offered personal and moving testament to the integral role Rockland Community College played in their personal commitment to excellence and in their career development. This truly inspiring group of alumni have together contributed more than 100 years to public service and saved countless lives in the process.

Congratulations to RCC Faculty/Staff awardees: Laurie Piña, whose career has long been dedicated to helping students for whom English is a Second Language (ESL), and to Saeed Safaie, who spoke of overcoming hardships in leaving one’s birth country (Iran), his enormous gratitude to his adopted country for allowing him to fulfill the great American dream, and who brought the whole house together in applause with his closing prayerful entreaty, “And God bless the United States.”
With thanks and congratulations to our business honoree “Unsung Hero,” the H.W. Wilson Foundation, as they generously fund RCC Foundation scholarships to afford higher education to all our community’s students.
