Horse Bolts from Carnival at Nanuet Mall

Animal from Nanuet Mall Carnival found safe after roaming Route 59 and adjacent shopping centers.

You expect a lot of horsing around at a carnival, but there was a new breed of excitement today at the Nanuet Mall Carnival when a horse escaped.

The bolt on the gate was not completely fastened and the horse, known as Goliath to the public and Clyde to his trainers, apparently kicked open the gate. He escaped from the ongoing carnival, enabling him to roam the mall parking lot and cross Route 59 to a neighboring shopping center.

The horse was spotted roaming the Route 59 area in Nanuet about 11:25 a.m. today. This 12-year-old Belgian horse weighs 2,286 lbs and is 124 inches in girth. A trainer with the carnival said the horse was found safe and carnival workers brought Clyde back.

The horse was seen in front of the Marshalls store at 76 Rockland Plaza opposite the Nanuet Mall on Route 59, where the carnival is taking place in a parking area of the Nanuet Mall. The trainer said the horse was stopped at an AT&T store.

No one working at the carnvial saw Clyde escape. If you want to see Clyde for yourself, he'll be back at work as one of the attractions at the carnival today after 4 p.m.
