Learn about the Historical Society of Rockland County’s Third Annual High School Local History Conference, an exciting educational program that puts history students at the head of the class.
Doug Carey, a history teacher at Spring Valley High School and a Trustee of the HRSC, joins Clare Sheridan in the studio to talk about the day-long gathering in March, which brings together high school history students, their advisers, and Social Studies Department chairs from Albertus Magnus, Clarkstown North, Clarkstown South, Nanuet, North Rockland, Nyack, Pearl River, Ramapo, Spring Valley, Suffern, and Tappan Zee high schools.

Mr. Carey is the co-chair of this year’s conference with HSRC Trustee Judge William Sherwood.
“Crossroads of Rockland History,” a program of the Historical Society of Rockland County, airs on the third Monday of each month at 10:10 am on WRCR Radio 1300 AM (live streaming at www.WRCR.com).

The Historical Society of Rockland County Is Proud to Announce the
Third Annual Rockland County High School Local History Conference
Date: Thursday, March 12, 2015
Participation in the conference is by invitation only.
The keynote speaker at the 2015 conference is the Hon. C. Scott Vanderhoef, a past president of the HSRC and former Rockland County Executive.
In addition to addresses from historians and dignitaries, the students will prepare presentations for their peers on themes related to Rockland County history of the past 50 years.

The Historical Society of Rockland County is a nonprofit educational institution and principal repository for original documents and artifacts relating to Rockland County. Its headquarters are a four-acre site featuring a history museum and the 1832 Jacob Blauvelt House in New City, New York.
