Hudson Valley Flooding: 3 To 5 Inches Of Rain Possible

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for Dutchess County and flood advisories for the rest of the Hudson Valley.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning, watch and advisory for counties across the region due to severe thunderstorms producing heavy rain. There's also a severe storm warning for southeastern Dutchess County.

Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly, the NWS said.

Dutchess County has a flash flood warning until 11:15 p.m. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Poughkeepsie; Beacon, Pawling, Pleasant Valley, Wappingers Falls, Fishkill, Millbrook, Hopewell Junction, Red Oaks Mill, Myers Corner, Fairview, Wingdale, Dover Plains, East Fishkill, Beekman, Lagrangeville, Arthursburg, Sylvan Lake, Billings and Hillside Lake. A flash flood watch is in effect until noon Sunday.

Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Westchester: There's a flood advisory and a severe thunderstorm watch until 11 p.m. plus a flash flood watch extending until 6 a.m. Sunday.

Ulster County: A flash flood watch and a severe thunderstorm watch are in effect. The latter expires at 11 p.m. and the former at noon Sunday.

Expect flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
