Hudson Valley Forecast: Hazardous Outlooks Across The Region
Strong to locally damaging winds will be the main threat along with brief, heavy downpours, the National Weather Service said.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The National Weather Service has issued hazardous outlooks for most of the region while revising its temperature forecast upward for Thursday.
- For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, the Storm Prediction Center has placed the area in a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms Thursday. Strong to locally damaging winds will be the main threat. Brief heavy downpours are also possible.
- For Dutchess and Ulster, the marginal risk for severe thunderstorms begins Wednesday afternoon west of the Hudson River. Strong to locally damaging winds will be the primary threat into the evening along with brief, heavy downpours. In addition, there is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms on Thursday. Strong to locally damaging winds will be the main threat along with brief, heavy downpours.

On Thursday, the NWS now predicts that temperatures will 80 everywhere but along the Sound Shore, where temps may only hit the high 70s. It's quite a swing, as on Sunday, New York City reached a high of only 50 F, 10 degrees below its typical early April high, whereas on Thursday we can expect to be 10-15 degrees above it.
"Clearing skies and a strong southerly flow ahead of an approaching cold front will lead to our warmest day yet tomorrow - highs may eclipse the low 80s in the valley locations tomorrow, this may serve as a trigger for a more likely line of storms that will make it further east tomorrow between 3-6pm," said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "This line of storms may also become strong to severe and will be monitored earlier in the day as it tracks through central NY."
