Hudson Valley Man Dies in Vermont Lake
He was a first responder in Orange County, according to news reports.
A Hudson Valley resident died Thursday while on vacation at a Vermont lake.
Seth Parent, 41, of New Windsor, was swimming with a family member at Crystal Lake in Barton when he became in distress. He was unresponsive by the time they got him to shore.
According to Vermont State Police, they received a call at about 7:13PM regarding a possible death as a result of a drowning at Crystal Lake in Barton. Detectives with the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal investigation responded to investigate.

Police said family member and bystanders who were fishing nearby immediately called 911 and initiated CPR. The State Police, Barton Rescues and Glover Ambulance Services responded to the scene. Parent was transported to North Country Hospital in Newport where he was pronounced deceased at 8:34 p.m.
The cause of death is suspected to be the result of a medical event but is pending the results of an autopsy. The death is not considered suspicious, police said.
