Legislator Low-Hogan Urges Residents to Submit Comments on TZB Shared Use Path

Deadline for Comments is this Friday, February 13

Rockland County Legislator Nancy Low-Hogan (District 17) is urging Rockland residents to submit comments on the parking concepts proposed by the New NY Bridge Project Team for the Shared Use Path planned for the new Tappan Zee Bridge. The deadline for comment is this Friday, February 13, 2015.

The Shared Use Path will cross the north-bound span of the bridge from thruway-owned land in Tarrytown to a terminus point of residential streets in the Village of South Nyack, near Interchange 10, the eastbound entrance to the bridge. The eight parking concepts proposed for South Nyack terminus reflect variables for parking on the residential streets in the vicinity of the terminus, metered off-street parking in the Village of Nyack and the redesign of Interchange 10 to include 54 parking spots and a comfort station.

“There are so many concerns about the parking proposals presented by the Project Team and the impact of parking, bike and foot traffic on the streets of the Village of South Nyack,” said Legislator Low-Hogan. “It is extremely important that the public weigh in on the parking concepts by the Friday, February 13 deadline.” The Thruway Authority has estimated that the path could possibly attract up to 500 people an hour on a weekend.

Low-Hogan has commented against any proposal that will cause disruption to the residential character of South Nyack. “I want what is best for the residents of South Nyack and Rockland County,” stated Low-Hogan. “I urge my fellow residents to evaluate the current options and comment by this Friday.”
