Mom, Toddler Interrupt Burglary: Clarkstown Police

The incident Saturday night is now under investigation.

NEW CITY, NY — Clarkstown police are investigating an apparently interrupted burglary Saturday evening in Congers. A homeowner called the cops from her car, saying she saw someone standing in their living room when she and her toddler got home.

Police said they received a call at about 8:50 p.m. Jan. 13 reporting a residential burglary. The 36-year-old homeowner said she and her 3-year-old son had pulled into the driveway after returning from a family function when she saw a male in a dark hoodie standing in her living room.

The suspect saw her and appeared to move quickly from the window to the rear of the home. The two victims went back into their car and awaited the police. Responding patrol units began an immediate and extensive search of both the interior and exterior of the home, utilizing multiple officers and K-9 units. No suspect was located. The victims did not suffer any injury.

The Clarkstown Detective Bureau responded to process the scene and initiate an investigation. The initial investigation revealed that some cash and jewelry were taken from the residence. There was no sign of forced entry into the home. The case will now be investigated and updates will be provided as they become available, police said.
