NEW CITY, NY — A Rockland County murder-for-hire plot which has made local headlines for the past decade is being featured on Dateline this week.
The episode, titled “Take Two” and reported by Andrea Canning, airs Friday, March 13 at 9 p.m. on NBC.
The episode tackles the case of wealthy podiatrist Ira Bernstein and his girlfriend Kelly Gribeluk. They were accused of plotting to hire a hit man to kill Bernstein’s wife, Susan Bernstein.

They were arrested after the would-be assassin alerted the police, and hidden cameras captured the “deadly deal, leading to guilty pleas and prison,” according to the network.
“Friday’s broadcast uncovers a shocking new chapter after their release, as one of them allegedly attempts to revive the murder plot once again,” the network said, in announcing the show’s upcoming debut.

The show will feature interviews with both Bernstein and Gribeluk, police detectives who worked on the case, and witnesses.
The Rockland County District Attorney’s office has said there were two murder plots, dating years apart.
Back in 2016, Ramapo police arrested Bernstein and charged him with conspiring to murder his wife. Bernstein pleaded guilty in 2017, and was sentenced to between five and 15 years in state prison. He was released in 2021.
Gribeluk, who was also charged, entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to prison too.
The second murder plot happened in 2022, according to prosecutors, who said Bernstein again sought to hire someone to kill Susan Bernstein.
Earlier this month, Ira Bernstein, now 51, of Montebello, was sentenced to up to three years in state prison for tampering with physical evidence in the latest case. He had entered a guilty plea last summer, according to the Rockland County District Attorney’s office. According to prosecutors, the evidence tampering charge stemmed from Bernstein’s efforts to prevent an audio recording of the plot from being used against him.
