New City Library Vote Coming Up Dec. 14

Renovations continue at the library on North Main Street; visit the Express library on South Main Street instead.

NEW CITY, NY — A budget vote and contested trustee election for the New City Library is scheduled for Dec. 14.

Both New City and West Nyack library officials will hold a combined budget hearing 7 at p.m. Tuesday at the West Nyack Library, 65 Strawtown Road.

Vote Dec. 14 in New City at the Street School Community Center, 31 Zukor Road. Polls will be open between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Remember to visit New City Library at its Express location at 198 S. Main St. Meanwhile the renovations continue at 229 N. Main. Work is expected to be complete by the summer. Click here for all the latest info about the ongoing work. Highlights:

  • New Children’s Meeting Room – with four times the capacity of the basement Storytime Room
  • Enlarged Meeting Room – increasing capacity to 125 from 85
  • Vending Café – serving light refreshments and beverages
  • Three additional group study rooms
  • Enlarged Makerspace on the main level – a place for creating
  • Combined service point – Reference and Support Services staff centrally located
  • New Teen Space
  • More outdoor space – “The Park” will afford outdoor program and meeting space at the north end of the building. The Maker Terrace will be for creating outside as well as serving as a stage for outdoor performances. The Entry Terrace will hold seating and tables.
  • A new patron elevator and bathrooms – to increase accessibility
