New City Residents: Give a Buck then Pass the Buck
Pony up for United Way of Rockland and then call out a friend or neighbor on social media—the effect can be exponential!

The United Way recently kicked off its “I Give A Buck” fundraising campaign.
Since one dollar is within the giving power of most people, if every person in Rockland could give one buck and then “pass the buck” to several friends through social media so they can donate as well, the exponential reach could be phenomenal!

“Go to our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter. There have been lots of videos and photos posted by people who are donating,“ said Jay Lurch, Chairman of the UWRC Board of Directors. “The best part is that the first $1,000 donated will be matched by PDI/Nice- Pak of Orangeburg. What a great way for them to Live United!”

Through their Community Impact Grants, the agency helps provide everything from aid for homebound seniors to scholarships for children to attend daycare. Some programs help at-risk youth, others provide after-school tutoring. The United Way of Rockland’s network of non-profit, business and government partners identifies and addresses the most pressing issues that affect Rockland’s residential and business communities, going beyond what any single organization can accomplish alone.
Every dollar raised by the United Way of Rockland stays here in Rockland to help your neighbors.
“Too many of our long-term employers are moving away from the area,” said Mimi Vilord, President & CEO of UWRC. “This has had a negative impact on our traditional workplace campaigns at a time when needs are steadily increasing.”
