NJ 20-Year-Old Admits To Murdering His 2 Aunts In Rockland County

"The defendant brutally and senselessly murdered two women," DA Walsh said, vowing to seek the maximum sentence of life without parole.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — A New Jersey man has now been convicted of the brutal killing of two family members in Rockland County.

District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced that 20-year-old Alan Abad, a/k/a Alina Abad, of Westwood, New Jersey, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder.

Abad is scheduled to be sentenced on June 22, to 25 years to life in state prison. The DA's Office says that it recommended the maximum sentence of life in prison without parole.

Prosecutors say that on February 15, 2025, around 6:30 p.m., on Gesner Drive, in Spring Valley, Abad caused the deaths of his two aunts, Evelyn Augilar-Agustin and Anabelly Aguilar.

He caused blunt force trauma to Aguilar-Agustin's head, face and abdomen, which caused her death.

Abad also caused blunt force trauma to Aguilar's head and upper neck, causing cervical spine fractures, brain injuries and hemorrhages, which caused her death.

"The defendant brutally and senselessly murdered two women," Walsh said. "My office will continue to advocate for them and seek the maximum penalty allowed under the law. I offer my sincere condolences to their family and thank my prosecutors and our law enforcement partners for their dedication and professionalism in seeking justice for the victims."
